Despite the Australian Junior Amateur Championships beginning in Canberra from the 13th to 16th of April, and a hectic calendar of events during the school holidays, that unfortunately kept numbers down, but even this wasn’t enough to deter the great team at Tin Can Bay from hosting what is traditionally one of The Tour’s…….
Friendliest and fun events on The Invincibles Calendar.
And that was no more evident than witnessing one of our senior members in Josh Holbrook (Headland) who went on to win the open division with a well put together seventy-four from Kaleb Crowe who recorded a seventy-nine.
Another great sight to see, and a thrill to be associated with, was being there to witness some of our more junior members take up the challenge, particularly young Chase Rendell (Tin Can Bay-72 nett p1 - 3 below) and Lilly Surasen (Maroochy River-76 nett - p2) who both qualified to take their place in the field of the Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championships that will be hosted by Peregian Golf Course, Twin Waters and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort (2 rounds) from the 26th to the 29th of September.
Chase Rendell (p3) also won The Invincibles Course Cup with his 72nett, which in turn qualified him for their Gold Cup of Cups Championship, which will be hosted by the magnificently manicured Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort, Sunday the 21st of November, followed immediately by The Invincibles Presentation Dinner.
The Invincibles “Brett Martell Inter-Club Team shield” points went to: Tin Can Bay who earned four point for coming first, Maroochy River was second receiving 2 points from Noosa Springs, who came in third place to collect 1 point.
Janet Reibel has asked The Tour to pass on Tin Can Bays thanks and appreciation to their sponsors in Bevan & Sandra Reibel, along with Greg Rendell and Paul Dowman for their generous support, which was much appreciated.
The Invincibles Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Janet and Sandra Reibel (Junior C0-Ordinator) and their great team, that included their Caterer’s, Bar & Office Staff, Ground Staff, BBQ and James Taylor in the Pro Shop who had their course and facilities set up in good condition given the weather we had experienced leading into their Junior classic, but most importantly, like most clubs, in the way they make everyone feel so welcome.
Chase Lear (Headland p1 below) won the 9-hole division with an excellent 43, Justyn Kendell (Mt Coolum) was runner-up with 49, with Harry Swart (Maroochy River) winning the 3-hole division.
The Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Penny Smith for generously offering to help with scoring at Invincibles events. You can only half imagine how much we appreciate Penny’s offer of support. It will help us enormously, particularly at presentations!
We believe we speak for everyone when we say a huge thanks to Frank for the enormous amount of hard work and effort that he puts into The Invincibles Tour. His company and support are invaluable and very much appreciated.
Highlights on the day included: Merrin Bartholomaeus brilliant 5m birdie putt on the 16th, James McCulloch’s approach to 7 and short game that was exceptional, along with Josh Holbrook, Merrin Bartholomaeus and Chase Lear’s NTP’s, which were just a few of the many highlights during the day!
Gentle reminder, our next event on The Invincibles Tour is the SC&SBDG Associations Short Course Championships (Maleny) on May the 2nd and the Redcliffe Junior Classic on the 9th.
