In what were extremely hot, windy, and severe conditions on lighting fast greens, Mikayla Dyal (Indooroopilly) dialed up her best-ever performance of 76-70nett that included no less than five birdies to win the much sought after Invincibles Gold Cup of Cups Championship, that was hosted by……….………
The magnificently presented Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort.
Makayla’s performance was a magnificent effort, particularly given the circumstances, her father Steve said.
I knew she was playing well, but I wasn’t sure if she was going be able to hold it together or not.
After going through the first nine 1 over, to then walk off the 14th six over, was disappointing, she wasn’t playing badly, it was just the incredible conditions that were horrendous and making the difference.
Standing on the 15th tee box, something seemed to click (mind you it was down wind) but it was awesome to witness her buckle down and focus on the job at hand to finish 2 under over the final four holes to get it back to four over!
Mikayla’s Mum and Dad, Steve and Chantelle were extremely proud of Mikayla’s performance.
The conditions were enough to test the world’s best golfers and got worse as the day unfolded, she really worked hard out there and it’s fair to say that we were enormously proud of her focus and determination, she learned a lot about herself and her game, which will give her a lot of confidence moving forward.
This is her third “Better Than Her Best Performance” this year, and Chantelle and I couldn’t be prouder of not only Mikayla’s performance, but also of all the juniors that took park, it really was tough out there and tested everyone’s patience and game to the max.
In front of some-one hundred and four guests who gathered together to witness the evening unfold, Justice Bosio (Caboolture) and Blaike Perkins (Pelican Waters P1-2 above) accepted their Drummond Golf Representative Award from Roy McClean (Drummond Golf Maroochydore).
James Riseley was presented the Wools-Cobb Family “Quiet Achiever Award” from Shae Wools-Cobb who was happy and proud to be home and to be able to present his award in person.
Shae is a proud Ambassador of The Invincibles Tour and really takes great pride and pleasure in presenting his award personally.
Mark Brady (p4 above) accepted the award for the Club That Did The Most To Promote, Develop and Nurture Junior Golf throughout 2020.
Ionna Muir (Maroochy River p1 below) was awarded the prestigious Players Player and Coastline BMW Awards as well as her IGA Sunshine Junior Masters nett trophy.
Liam Dawson (Caloundra p3 below) took out the Best Team Person, Coastline BMW Encouragement Award and Most Improved Player Award.
Harry Takis (Nudgee p4) accepted his Matchplay and IGA Junior Masters trophies for what has been a spectacular year on Tour.
Jim Di Pietra (Maroochy River Club Captain p2 above) and his band of very talented juniors accepted their third consecutive Invincibles Inter-Club Team Shield.
On July the 7th, we were all saddened to hear of the sudden passing of a close friend, Invincibles committee member and staunch supporter of junior golf, Brett Martell.
After consulting with Cath Martell (Brett’s Wife & family) it was decided by The Invincibles Committee that the Invincibles Sunshine Inter-Club Team Shield would be renamed as the “Brett Martell Inter-Club Team Shield” as an ongoing reminder as to just how much he meant to The Invincibles Tour and junior golf in general.
We believe it is a fitting tribute to a man that has given so much to junior golf and we feel he would be proud to have this award named after him!
He will be sadly missed by all that new him, but never forgotten.
