Round two of The Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship saw our juniors head to Twin Waters, where they were treated to what were perfect conditions and a magnificently presented course, so there couldn’t be any excuses, and there certainly weren’t any from joint overnight leader in the girls division, Zoe Maxwell (Virginia) who carded a fantastic two under par 70. The boy’s division remains a very…….
Tight affair between overnight leaders Cooper Clarke (Noosa) and Baxter Smith (Bribie Island – pictured with Zoe) who retain their leads with hard fought 74’s, to put them in the final pairing tomorrow with Daniel Cho (Indooroopilly) just one shot back, breathing down the necks ready to pounce in the second last group!
A major highlight for the large gallery sitting behind the eighteenth green, was witnessing Poppy Harrington (Redland Bay) chip in for eagle and an even par round of 72.
Other highlights during round two included: Ben Duncombe’s putt from off the third green for birdie, James Riseley’s approach and putt on 5 for birdie, and on the same hole Juhi Rampersad’s approach to five to within 3cm’s for a tap in birdie, Lydia Shackell’s and Daniel Cho’s chip in for birdies on 9 along with Baxter Smith brilliant birdie putt to have three birdies and a par in the group (Caitlin Vanderkruk) had the par.
Other highlights included Zoe Maxwell’s drive on 11 to set up a three-meter birdie, Lydia Shackell’s
birdies on the very tough 16 and 17 holes, and Amy Hodgkin’s brilliant four meter putt on 18 for birdie to bring a smile to her face and to everyone watching on, which were just a few of the many highlights during day two of The Invincibles Junior Masters!
Day three continues at Pelican Waters Golf Club, arrival 9.00am with a 10.00am tee off!
Once again, a huge thanks to our host Steve Hutchison (Manager – Twin Waters) and his great team for having their course and facilities set beautifully to host our Masters Championship and for making everyone feel welcome, it is always much appreciated!
It really is important for our juniors and their families to appreciate how much they are supported by our local golf clubs, to receive the privileges that we receive on The Invincibles Tour is exceptional and something that should never be taken for granted, because the Sunshine Coast is a very special community.
Again, we would to thank those that volunteered as scorers and marshals, it makes a huge difference to our Masters Championship and it’s fair to say that would not be the great event it is without your input and support.
A special thanks to Frank who always does a fantastic job and Darren Gill for their help, again, it was very much appreciated.
A full rundown of results will be on The Invincibles website after the final round: gross results after day 2, see below:
