The opening round of The Invincibles Junior Masters Championship “that was generously hosted by Peregian Golf Course” couldn’t have been played in better conditions for those that were lucky enough to contest the championship, where our juniors pushed each other to their limits as the scores would indicate. To have no fewer than……..
Four of Queensland’s finest junior golfers tied together at the top of the Masters leader board after Day 1 is quite incredible, and they included Cooper Clarke (Noosa) Dhiya Rampersad (Pacific) Zoe Maxwell (Virginia) and Baxter Smith (Bribie Island - pictured from left to right) who all finished tied together on 72 gross which all leads to a very exciting day 2 at Twin Waters tomorrow from 10.15am arrival for an 11.15 tee off.
A major highlight was witnessing an even mix of girls and boys competing together at the Masters, which was a first and one can only hope that this is a positive sign moving forward!
Other highlights during the opening round included: Tyler Quaill and Travis Robbie’s eagles on the 11th, Megan Smith’s fantastic tee shot on 12 to set up a gutsy 3m putt for birdie, Liam Dawson’s 20m putt from off the green on 12 to save par, Joshua Holbrooke’s ten meter putt from off the green on 18 for birdie, Jarrod Goodwin’s brilliant escape from the trees on 18 was just magical, Baxter Smith’s excellent bunker shot into 18 from a hundred meters out was magnificent, as was Lydia Shackles approach to the same hole to within 30cm to set up an easy birdie, which were just a few of the many highlights during day one of The Invincibles Junior Masters!
A huge thanks to the team at Peregian Golf Course, particularly Daniel Morrison (Director of Golf) and his great team for having their course and facilities set beautifully to host our Masters Championship and for making everyone feel welcome, it was much appreciated!
The Tour would like to thank those that volunteered as scorers and marshals, because it’s fair to say, our Masters Championship would not be the great event it is without your input and support.
A special thanks to Frank and Darren Gill for their help, again, it was very much appreciated.
A full rundown of results will be on The Invincibles website after the final round: gross results below!
