On what was another magnificent day to be outdoors, enjoying the company of family and friends whilst taking in the magnificent views Headland Golf Club has to offer, or contesting their 2018 Junior Classic, and it would be hard to believe that anyone would rather be anywhere else. It would also be hard to believe, that the great team of members at Headland could have done any more to.......
Accommodate the very keen group of juniors that came to take up the challenge, where, Rebecca O’Neill (Gympie) and Jaeseung Na (Sanctuary Cove) put in solid performances to win the boys and girls titles with rounds of 80 and 75 respectively.
"Jaeseung didn’t have everything his own way".
After tying with Bailey Murchie (Maroochy River) both boys headed out to the par 3, eighteenth to contest a sudden death play – off, which Jaeseung won after lagging his ninety foot putt to within centimetres of the hole, for a tap in par, but unfortunately for the large gallery that was watching on from the balcony, and hoping to see the play-off go into a sudden death shoot-out, but unfortunately for Bailey, his putt lipped out giving Jaeseung the title for 2018.
The Invincibles Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the Headland Golf Club, and their great team, led by Clay Williams (Golf & Operations Manager) David Smith (Junior Co – Ordinator) and Adam Norlander (Head Professional) and his team in the Pro Shop for hosting what was another great day out.

Rebecca O’Neill (Gympie – p4 above) won The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Course Cup with 72 nett, and by doing so, qualified for the Sunshine Coast Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Pelican Waters Golf Club (Sunday November 25) followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner, where we would like to think that all Gold Cup contestants would make themselves available?
The Invincibles Inter – Club Team Shield points for round 8 are as follows: Caboolture Golf Club earned the four points for winning, Maroochy River Golf Club earned two points for second, with Noosa Golf Club taking out one point for third.
“Every Journey Starts with a first Step”
There is massive change a foot with junior golf at Headland Golf Club and that was no more evident than witnessing the enormous amount of hard work and effort that had gone into creating the fantastic atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
The Invincibles Tour believe that everyone that participated on Sunday, would like to thank and congratulate Dave Smith (Chair Headland Junior Committee) and his team in Sandy Whittle, Mandy Oster (Vice President) Frank Schmidt, along with their support crew in Marg Smith, Simon Whittle and Bill Oster.
We also believe that if passion and desire is anything to go by, The Headland Golf Club is well on its way to creating a junior squad that will be a force to be reckoned with at future events, as we’ve witnessed with Pelican Waters, Noosa and Maroochy River over past few years, and all this adds up to a very exciting future for our juniors and junior golf in general on the Sunshine Coast.
The Invincibles Tour would also like to extend thanks and appreciation to the team in their office, their ground staff, caterers, and bar staff for not only putting on a great day, but most importantly, for making everyone feel so welcome.
Highlights on the day included: Witnessing Ollie Merrett and Jayden Situ pick up the bags for both Jayden and Bailey in the play-off, which is always a great sight to see and true sportsmanship in action (The Invincibles Way) also, Yevin Samararatne’s putt on 11 for birdie, Chase Rendell’s brilliant approach to 1, Sam Remedios’s drive and approach to 4, Ben Duncombe’s approach to 15, Ruby Kavanagh’s bunker shot and Mikayla Dyal’s putt on 5, which were brilliant and just a few of the many highlights during the day…….
Headland Golf Club would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Mountain Creek Meats and Schweppes Australia for being the main Sponsors of their Junior Classic.
The Invincibles Tour would also like to thank and make special mention of Callaway Australia, Mountain Creek Meats, and Sunshine Coast Council for very generously supporting The Invincibles Tour on the day.
