mtcoolum 2020 main On what was a “Cracker” of a day for the Mt Coolum Golf Club to host their Junior Open (Sunday the 16th of August) in conjunction with the Pampling / Kirk Zone and District Boys and Girls Junior Open Championships, where brother and sister, Manato and Haruhi Nakatani (Gold Coast Burleigh) re-wrote the record books by becoming the first siblings to do so with rounds of 68 (-4) and 72 respectively.

Given that these championships were washed out back on the 26th of July due to torrential rain, to Sunday where conditions couldn’t have been better, and we believe that everyone made the most of their good fortune.

Due to the Mt Coolum and Pampling / Kirk event being joined together due to Covid-19 and that these championships were to be played on the same course, it was decided by The Invincibles Committee that there would be two sets of awards for their Invincibles IGA Masters and Course Cup and Gold Cup of Cups Championship qualifiers.

There for, we would like to congratulate Harry Takis (Nudgee) Matthys Visser and Amy Hodgkins (both from Redcliffe) and Mikayla Dyal (Caboolture p1-2-3-4 below) for their performances that qualified them for The Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championships, that will be hosted by Peregian Golf Course, Twin Waters, Pelican Waters and Noosa Golf & Spa Resort from the 27th to the 30th of September.

The Course Cup winners went to Matthys Visser (Redcliffe) and Koa Wood (Noosa Springs Country Club P5,6 below) after both recorded rounds of 67 nett, which in turn qualified them for the Gold Cup of Cups Championship, that will be hosted by the magnificently manicured Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort, Sunday November 29, followed immediately by The Invincibles Presentation Dinner “Covid-19 conditions permitting”.

The Invincibles Inter-Club Team shield points went to Keperra Golf Club who earned four point for coming first with 213, Noosa Springs was second on 224 to receive 2 points and Mount Coolum took out third place on 230c/b to collect 1 point.

The Invincibles Tour would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Sharon Purnell (Manager) Nathanial Fuller (Golf Manager) Steve Jenkins (Head Professional) who have always been enormously generous supporters of The Invincibles Tour, and go out of their way where ever possible to make sure our Tour is looked after and in good hands whenever we visit Mount Coolum.

We would like to thank not only them, but also their Caterer’s, Bar & Office Staff, Ground Staff, and the team in the Pro Shop who had their course and facilities set up magnificently to host their Classic, but most importantly, in the way they make everyone feel so welcome.

A huge thanks to Frank who goes above and beyond to support the Tour to give our juniors every opportunity to excel and follow their dreams!

Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....

We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Joss Quirk, Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
