Headland Junior Classic 2011
News
What a fantastic day for golf and what a brilliant view! I don’t believe we’ve exerienced better weather "for school holidays" than what we've experienced over the past couple of weeks.
It’s hard to believe that anyone would want to be anywhere else than on the putting green at Headland Golf Club overlooking the perfectly manicured and majestic Headland layout. The views to Mooloolaba and out to sea whilst watching container ships go by is awe inspiring and just what the kids needed prior to teeing off in the 2011 Headland Junior Classic, under brilliant sunny skies with just enough wind to make the day a challenge for all.

With an eight o’clock shotgun, there was time for the sun to rise and warm everything up so it wasn’t too chilly for the locals “however the crew from Murgon appeared quite at home” It was great to see almost 70 players on hand on a pupil free Monday and thanks must go to the parents and others who managed to get their golfing guru’s to the course. So kids, remember you owe your teachers one for allowing you another day on the course.

Congratulations to Karl Preston for winning the Lend Lease Course Cup and for qualifying for the Hyatt Regency Coolum Gold Cup of Cups Championship to be contested at Hyatt Coolum on the Sunday prior to the Australian PGA Championship in November.
"A special congratulations must also go to Luke Parker for qualifying for the Hyatt Regency Coolum Gold Cup of Cups Championship by way of winning his third Junior Classic or Open during the year"
It was great to see the Murgon crew arrive and add great support to the event. We trust that you enjoyed the day and had a safe trip home. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

On a not so pleasant note; it must be mentioned, that for the sake of “The Tour” all golf clubs, their committees and our sponsors on the Sunshine Coast who have made a conscious decision after our forum at the Hyatt Coolum last year, that we join forces and commit to supporting and promoting junior golf in our area!
To provide players and their families with golfing facilities, experiences and support that is second to none anywhere in Australia and that’s where we need your support, because it’s every individual’s responsibility to conduct themselves appropriately. Not just in a golfing sense but as members of society.

It must be realised that there are consequences for our actions, both good and otherwise, and for some, certain penalties have been applied. Please remember that there are many others affected by poor behaviour, you’re playing partners, other groups, our younger nine hole Pee – Wee players and their parents, our clubs as well as the game itself.
I do thank those that have approached me with their concerns and we extend an invitation to everyone, if you feel concerned or uncomfortable in any way, please don’t hesitate to discuss those concerns with an official because we are equally concerned and driven by a passion to set in place an honest, safe, fair and friendly Junior Golfing Tour that everyone can be proud of and enjoy participating in!!!

Thanks must go to the course superintendant and his team for the great condition in which the course was presented. Also the caterers, they did a brilliant job as did the scoring officials and of course the bar staff. Thanks a million to all concerned for making everyone feel so welcome!

A special thanks in appreciation must go to the major sponsors for the day in Jack Freeman (Mountain Creek Meats) and Gerard Brown (Mountain Creek Cafe’ Bakery) who have been supporting The Invincibles Tour and junior golf for as long as I can remember. So next time you’re in the Mountain Creek area please drop in and say hello because these two guys have been absolutely brilliant to me and The Tour!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee (pictured above) of The Invincibles Tour for all their hard work and support. Their incredible input is very much appreciated and a major reason why the Tour works so well. There’s no doubt that when you witness what goes on behind the scenes of THE TOUR then you get a greater understanding of just how much people care and what lengths there prepared to go to give every child the opportunity to follow their dreams in a quest to reach their full potential!!!
I would like to thank Karl and Matt Preston for helping get luggage to the car and to Tiana Beakey for offering her support to put up the Mountain Creek Meats banners. A special thanks to Perry Preston who played a huge part in preparing this Headland News Letter. Thanks gang your help and support was very much appreciated!!

It’s absolutely brilliant to see the way our juniors are dressing these days, it adds enormous colour to events which can’t be a bad thing! The award for “Pants most likely to hurt your eyes” went to Trent Easton. Keep it up gang, who knows, there could be the best dressed player award at events?
The four points for The Invincibles Inter - Club Team Shield went to Peregian Springs with Mount Coolum second with two points and Horton Park coming in third scoring one point!!
Headland Junior Classic was a great way to finish two very busy weeks of golf which have been played at major events from the Gold Coast to Bargara and should stand competitors in good stead leading into their Club Championships.
