The weather was absolutely perfect for golf and the course in excellent condition thanks to their course superintendant Wayne Anderson and his team. “Well done gang” I’m sure everyone of the booked out field took full advantage of the conditions by enjoying a great day’s golf!!!

The full house at presentation, were honoured and thrilled to be treated with a great speech from Mr. Ken Pampling, who said a few words at presentation on behalf of Rodney and passed on a few words of encouragement and support to our juniors as he shared some of the experiences that he’d encountered whilst bringing Rodney up through the junior ranks as a golfer on the Sunshine Coast!

There’s no doubt in my mind, that if we are going to have a thriving and well organized Junior Golf Program on the Sunshine Coast, then we all have to work together as a team. It’s my experience over the past twelve months, in particular the past six months that everyone is really starting to appreciate the effort that’s going into junior golf and as a result taking their roles very seriously.

It has been absolutely brilliant to “The Tour” to get the feedback and support from Golf Queensland, PGA Australia, and Greg Norman Golf Foundation, our golf clubs, their committees and the team on the SC&SBDGA. It’s also important to note, that our juniors are working hard also and taking ownership of their Tour by doing all the little things required to make sure their tour functions well and is the best of its kind anywhere in Australia!!!

I believe that if our golfing administrators, our junior golfers and their parents continue to work together to produce the best possible outcomes for our very talented golfers, then where are in for a fantastic journey and a very promising future for our junior golfers here on the Sunshine Coast. But the only way for that to happen is to learn from the past, work as a team and focus on the future!!!
The Sunshine Coast and South Burnett District Golf Association’s led by Moss Thislewait (Junior Convener) should be enormously pleased with the turnout and for the way the event was run. This was the largest field to ever take part at this event and coming off a sold out field at Mount Coolum the week prior, it gives everyone a great insight into where junior golf is heading if we focus on what’s important and continue to work together anything is possible!

I know Jim Dalrymple (President) and his committee were thrilled to bits with the turnout, but most importantly with the quality of players, both boys and girls that took to the fairways to challenge themselves and test their games against some of the most talented junior golfers in South East Queensland!!

We would like to thank and congratulate Caloundra’s bar staff, (Lorraine Roberts & Scott Massie) their caterers and office staff for all their input and support and for making everyone feel so welcome.
Thanks to Danny Freyling (Head Professional) and Tony Beckett in the Pro Shop for looking after everyone on the day and for giving me a loan of a cart. It was very much appreciated.

Thanks to Neil Charkow (website 1000) for making sure our website continues to lead the way by keeping our juniors and their parents up to date and well informed with what’s happening within junior golf on the Sunshine Coast.

From an Invincibles Tour point of view, it doesn’t surprise me or our members that the fields are becoming as large as they are (130 plus). It’s simply because our juniors and their parents are once again starting to take their golf seriously and getting involved by supporting The Tour “their Tour” and that’s what’s making an enormous difference. There’s no doubt in my mind that we are starting to see the rewards and benefits that come from a certain amount of hard work and effort and this sort of turnout justifies that effort.
As we can see from the results this is starting to happen right across the Sunshine Coast but there are a couple of things that we have to be enormously conscious of and that is to ensure local juniors get to compete at their home grown events and that we don’t lose sight of our nine hole competitors because they are the life blood of everything The Invincibles Tour stands for!!!!
The Invincibles Tour would like to congratulate Celeste Lo (Hills) and Michael Amos (Caloundra) for qualifying for The Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship which will be hosted by Twin Waters, Peregian Springs, Noosa Springs and Pelican Waters during the first week on the September School holidays (16, 18, 19 and 20).

The Tour would also like to congratulate Lochlan Coleborn (Mt Coolum - already qualified) for winning the Lend Lease Course Cup and also Danika Coyne (Pelican Waters) for qualifying for the Hyatt Regency Coolum Gold Cup of Cups championship which will be contested at the Hyatt on the Sunday prior to the Australian PGA Championship in November.

As we keep saying "It doesn't get any better than doing better than your best" and that's exactly what Lochlan and Danika did when they put together a couple of brilliant 65 netts. That’s a brilliant effort!!!
Caloundra won the four points in The Invincibles Inter – Club Team Shield, Mount Coolum came second with two points whilst Horton Park came in third with one point!

As Tour members, I believe you should give your selves a pat on the back. It’s your tour and I believe that you’re all starting to understand that the more we commit, and the more we put in, the greater the rewards and the better the results and at the end of the day and the more support we will receive from Golf Australia, Golf Queensland, The Greg Norman Foundation, Golf Clubs along with the relevant organizations and associations on the Sunshine Coast the better will be the outcome.I would like to make special mention and applaud everyone for working on pace of play, the etiquette of the game and for staying back wherever possible for presentation. To have the clubhouse full at presentation was fantastic and something that is happening more and more in junior golf “I must say that our juniors are teaching the adults a thing or two in this department”. It gives everyone a boost and sends the strongest possible message to everyone involved that we are serious about our juniors and care about them and their performances.

By staying back and supporting our juniors whenever and wherever possible teaches everyone the appropriate golf etiquette and people skills associated with the game and how to represent their Sponsors, Clubs, families and friends at presentation whilst supporting others on their special day.
