News

Before getting into the news letter, The Tour and their committee would like to take this opportunity to thank those mum's, “who gave up the very rare opportunity to sleep in and have breakfast in bed” to join their aspiring young golfers at Caloundra's Junior classic on Mother’s Day!!!

It was a magical day out and the Tour couldn’t have asked for any more from the hard working team at Caloundra who did a fantasic job hosting the event! In absolutely perfect conditions for golf, under a brilliant blue sky on one of the best presented courses on the Sunshine Coast, it was great to see everyone back on Tour enjoying their golf after a long Pennants season.

We would also like to take the time to thank and congratulate the fantastic team at Caloundra lead by Jason Looker (Secretary Manager), their men’s Captain Alan Bruce, Vice Captain Russell Michael, helper and great supporter Bob Richardson along with their office staff Carolyn and Katherine, their bar staff in Lorraine and David, thanks to Tony in the Pro Shop (On Course Golf) for looking after everyone and for giving me a loan of a cart to get around in. I’m sure everyone enjoyed their efforts and made the most of what was a fantastic day out.

If you haven’t visited Caloundra Golf Club for a game, please take the time out to do so  www.caloundragolfclub.com

Congratulations must go to Chris Crabtree (Caloundra) and Samantha Foley (Coolangatta Tweed) for winning the overall boys and girls titles at the 2012 Caloundra Junior Classic with scores of 73 and 75 respectively. “See results above”

After a cross check of the Inter - Club Team Shield points, it was discovered that Caloundra had won the four points with 211, Headland received two point for second with 212 and Peregian Springs came in third on 219 to earn 1 point.

We would also like to make mention of the fantastic field of very talented young golfers that took up the challenge to play in Caloundra’s Junior Classic, with no less than twenty nine players on ten or less in handicap. This is a brilliant outcome, particularly given that The Invincibles Tour has long held a dream and focused on creating the best possible competition for our juniors on the Sunshine Coast. We feel the better the player the stronger the competition and that can only benefit everyone that’s associated with The Tour.

The committee would like to ask every aspiring junior golfer and their families to keep supporting "The Tour" your Tour, because our Clubs, our sponsors, The Greg Norman Foundation, PGA of Australia and Golf Queensland along with their supporters are working hard to strengthen our game and fields like this can only reinforce and inspire everyone to work harder to create better competition for everyone involved, that in the long term can only lead to a massive boost in junior golf on the Sunshine Coast and golf in general!!!

We would like to thank Wayne Anderson (Greens Superintendant) and his team for doing a brilliant job preparing the course. I’m sure everyone enjoyed the unique challenges that Caloundra’s layout has to offer and I’m more than sure it was a true test to everyone’s game.

On a personal note, I would like to thank the girls, Marshan, Pauline and Cathou (pictured below left) owners of “The Cats Whiskers Gift Shop - Mountain Creek” for helping sponsor the lucky door prize as a treat for those very supportive and loving mothers on their special day!!!

A big thanks go to Frank Schmidt and Keith Stockill for doing a fantastic job keeping our stats and records up to date. Many thanks to Neil Charkow (website1000) for the brilliant job he does in keeping The Invincibles Website fresh, up to date and informative so we can all keep up to the minute with what’s happening on Tour!!!

A huge thanks to Perry Preston for helping with presentations and to Marie and Marshan for organising the lucky door prize and chocolates for our special guests “THE MUM’S”

I know I speak for everyone when I say a special thanks to our sponsors and supporters (above) for the massive input and support they give to The Tour, for without that support, we “The Tour” just wouldn’t exist?
