Robert Allenby - Patron of the Invincibles Junior Golf Tour

“Golf remains a game for life and one of the great legacies of Australian golf is in the terrific support to junior golfers. The Invincibles Tour on the Sunshine Coast is a great example of a programme to promote and develop junior golf. The Invincibles Tour is professionally run and aside from protecting the spirit and etiquette of the game it provides a spirit of fun and enjoyment so everyone can enjoy the experience. The Invincibles Tour serves to reinforce these values and I am proud to lend my name to support this programme and to assist in any small way I can”.
ROBERT ALLENBY BACKS JUNIOR TOUR
Robert Allenby has thrown his invaluable support behind the very professional and well run Junior Development Program known as The Invincibles Sunshine Coast Junior Golfing Tour Inc in Queensland. In 2003 Graeme Miller, with a great deal of help and support from others, started The Invincibles Junior Golf Tour on the Sunshine Coast with the aim of helping youngsters find pathways into the game. Four years later there are more than 100 regular members of the tour playing competition golf just about every week and the numbers continue to grow.
Recently they received a huge shot in the arm with the news that US Tour player Robert Allenby, whose wife Sandy hails from the Sunshine Coast, has come on board to help promote the Tour.
"It's really exciting news for us and will help the Tour grow I'm sure," says Graeme. "To have someone with Robert's profile make himself available is fantastic and says a lot about his commitment to the game."
Robert has agreed to assist with clinics and other promotional activities when he is in the area. Click here for the Robert Allenby Golf Clinic video
"It's great for the kids because it's an opportunity to meet someone who's been successful at the highest levels of the game and I personally know from first hand experience just how much time and effort Robert put into his game when he was an aspiring young golfer not much different in age than the juniors we have in our program at the moment “, says Graeme."It's not the sort of thing you can gauge but when players of Robert's calibre make this sort of commitment it's a real inspiration for the youngsters. Who knows what careers it might help to launch?
"A lot of our current Australian players got to meet the likes of Greg Norman when they were youngsters and most of them say it was one of the things that inspired them to pursue a professional career so if we can have that sort of impact on some of these kids it would be a great result."
Allenby is a four time winner on the US PGA TOUR and twice Australian Open champion as well as a three time winner of the Australian PGA and twice Mastercard Masters Champion. Since turning professional in 1991, he has won 20 times world-wide. He also made history in 2005 when he won the Australian Open, Masters and PGA Championship in consecutive weeks - the first player ever to achieve the unique Triple Crown.
